Tatzliach Initiative — Terms of Use

Last Updated: June 21, 2026

About the Platform

Tatzliach Initiative (“Tatzliach,” “we,” “us,” or “the Initiative”) is a New York not-for-profit corporation, recognized as exempt from federal income tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Tatzliach operates a community-based mentorship and personal development platform serving the Jewish community (the “Platform” or “Program”). The Platform connects adult members with adult mentors of the same gender for general guidance, accountability, and personal growth support, consistent with the communal and religious values of the population it serves.

The Platform does not provide medical, mental health, legal, financial, or other licensed professional services. No relationship formed through the Platform constitutes a doctor-patient, therapist-client, attorney-client, fiduciary, or other professional advisory relationship.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing, registering for, or using the Platform in any way, you (“you,” “User,” or “Member”) agree to be bound by these Terms of Use (“Terms”), together with the Privacy Policy, Member Agreement, Code of Conduct, Program Disclaimer, and any Media & Publicity Consent you sign (collectively, the “Program Documents”), each incorporated into these Terms by reference.

If you do not agree to every provision of these Terms, you must not access or use the Platform.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Tatzliach Initiative.

2. Eligibility and Age Requirement

The Platform is strictly limited to individuals who are at least eighteen (18) years of age. There is no exception to this requirement.

By using the Platform, you represent and warrant, under penalty of perjury, that you are at least 18 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement.

Tatzliach reserves the right to request government-issued identification or other proof of age at any time, and to immediately suspend or terminate any account where age cannot be verified or is reasonably believed to have been misrepresented.

Any person who gains access to the Platform by misrepresenting their age does so in violation of these Terms, and Tatzliach disclaims all liability arising from such misrepresentation to the fullest extent permitted by law.

3. Nature of the Services; Not Professional Services

All mentorship, guidance, resources, and content provided through the Platform are non-clinical, non-professional, peer-based, and general or educational in nature only.

The Platform is not a substitute for medical care, mental health treatment, legal counsel, or financial advice. Mentors are community volunteers, not licensed professionals acting in a licensed capacity, regardless of any outside profession or licensure they may individually hold.

If you are experiencing a medical or mental health emergency, or are in crisis, you must immediately contact 911, the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, or another appropriate emergency service. Tatzliach is not equipped, and does not hold itself out as equipped, to respond to emergencies.

4. Single-Gender Mentorship Policy

Consistent with the communal and religious values of the Jewish community the Platform serves — including traditional principles of modesty (tzniut) and propriety governing interactions between unrelated men and women — all one-on-one mentorship matches are made strictly on a single-gender basis: male Members are matched only with male mentors, and female Members are matched only with female mentors.

This policy is a core, non-negotiable feature of the Program. Tatzliach will not facilitate, and Members may not request, arrange, or participate in, a cross-gender one-on-one mentorship match through the Platform.

Tatzliach reserves sole discretion to determine gender for matching purposes based on the information provided at registration, and may decline to make or may terminate a match if it cannot make this determination with confidence.

Group programming, webinars, and community events open to all genders are not subject to this policy unless otherwise stated, but Members should expect that all individual mentorship relationships arranged through the Platform will remain single-gender.

Tatzliach's one-on-one mentorship structure is limited to these two single-gender pairings and does not include additional matching categories. An individual for whom this structure is not a fit is welcome to contact Tatzliach for a respectful referral to other community resources or organizations.

5. No Guarantee of Matching, Compatibility, or Outcomes

Tatzliach does not guarantee that any Member will be matched with a mentor, that a match will occur within any particular timeframe, or that a match, once made, will continue for any period of time.

Matching is dependent on mentor availability within the applicable gender category, geographic factors, scheduling, and other practical constraints outside Tatzliach's control.

Tatzliach makes no representation, warranty, or guarantee regarding the outcome, result, or benefit of any mentorship relationship, program, resource, or referral.

6. Account Registration and Security

You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration, including accurate gender information used solely for matching under Section 4, and to keep such information up to date.

You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of any login credentials and for all activity occurring under your account.

You agree to notify Tatzliach immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

7. User Conduct

Provide accurate information at all times.

Treat all Users, mentors, staff, and volunteers with respect and courtesy.

Comply with all Program Documents, program guidelines, and the single-gender matching policy described in Section 4.

Refrain from misusing or exploiting the Platform for any unauthorized, commercial, or unlawful purpose.

Refrain from harassing, threatening, stalking, or otherwise harming any other User.

Refrain from sharing another User's personal information without that User's express consent.

Refrain from soliciting or attempting to obtain professional medical, legal, financial, or psychological services from a mentor.

Refrain from circumventing or attempting to circumvent the single-gender matching policy in Section 4.

Violations may result in immediate suspension or termination of access, at Tatzliach's sole discretion, with or without prior notice, and may be reported to appropriate authorities where required or appropriate.

8. Safety and Mandatory Reporting Exception

Notwithstanding any other provision of the Program Documents, Tatzliach reserves the right, and may be legally obligated, to disclose information to law enforcement, child or adult protective services, or other authorities where Tatzliach reasonably believes there is a risk of harm to any person, suspected abuse or neglect, or other circumstances requiring or warranting disclosure under applicable law.

This Section survives any termination of your use of the Platform.

9. Intellectual Property

All content, trademarks, logos, materials, and systems made available through the Platform are the exclusive property of Tatzliach Initiative or its licensors and are protected under applicable intellectual property laws.

You may not reproduce, distribute, publicly display, modify, or create derivative works from any Platform content without Tatzliach's prior written consent.

Any unauthorized use immediately terminates the limited license granted to you to access the Platform.

10. Third-Party Resources and Referrals

The Platform may reference, link to, or facilitate connections with third-party organizations, professionals, contributors, or resources (the “Community Resource Network”).

Tatzliach does not endorse, control, vet, or guarantee the accuracy, quality, safety, or legality of any third-party resource, organization, or individual referenced through the Platform.

Your interactions with any third party referenced through the Platform are solely between you and that third party, at your own risk.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE PLATFORM AND ALL CONTENT, MENTORSHIP, REFERRALS, AND RESOURCES ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ACCURACY. TATZLIACH DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE PLATFORM WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE.

12. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL TATZLIACH INITIATIVE, ITS DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, VOLUNTEERS, MENTORS, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE PLATFORM, ANY MENTORSHIP RELATIONSHIP, OR ANY INTERACTION WITH ANY OTHER USER, MENTOR, OR THIRD PARTY, REGARDLESS OF THE THEORY OF LIABILITY, AND EVEN IF TATZLIACH HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

TATZLIACH'S TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE PLATFORM SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100), OR (B) THE TOTAL AMOUNT, IF ANY, YOU PAID TO TATZLIACH IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you.

13. Assumption of Risk

You acknowledge that participation in mentorship, community events, and interactions facilitated by the Platform involves inherent risks, including but not limited to interpersonal, emotional, financial, and physical risks arising from contact with other individuals.

You voluntarily and knowingly assume all such risks, and you release Tatzliach from any claim arising out of such risks to the fullest extent permitted by law.

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Tatzliach Initiative, its directors, officers, employees, volunteers, and mentors from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your use of the Platform; (b) your violation of any Program Document; (c) your interactions with any other User; or (d) your violation of any law or the rights of a third party.

15. No Personal Liability of Founders, Directors, Officers, and Volunteers

No founder, director, officer, employee, or volunteer (including every mentor) of Tatzliach Initiative shall have personal liability for any act or omission undertaken in good faith and within the scope of their role on behalf of Tatzliach, to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law — including the federal Volunteer Protection Act of 1997 (42 U.S.C. § 14501 et seq.) and any applicable New York volunteer protection or charitable immunity statute.

All volunteers, including mentors, serve Tatzliach entirely without compensation and act solely as good-faith community volunteers, not as employees, agents, or representatives of Tatzliach for any other purpose.

This limitation does not extend to acts of willful misconduct, gross negligence, criminal conduct, or conduct outside the scope of an individual's authorized role.

Any claim arising from the acts or omissions of an individual founder, director, officer, employee, or volunteer acting in good faith and within scope shall be directed against Tatzliach Initiative as an organization, and not against that individual personally, except as provided above.

16. Dispute Resolution; Binding Arbitration; Class Action Waiver

PLEASE READ THIS SECTION CAREFULLY. IT AFFECTS YOUR LEGAL RIGHTS, INCLUDING YOUR RIGHT TO FILE A LAWSUIT IN COURT.

Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms, the Platform, or your participation in the Program shall be resolved exclusively through final and binding arbitration administered by a mutually agreed-upon arbitration provider, conducted in the State of New York, rather than in court, except that either party may bring an individual claim in small claims court if it qualifies.

YOU AND TATZLIACH EACH WAIVE THE RIGHT TO A JURY TRIAL AND THE RIGHT TO PARTICIPATE IN A CLASS ACTION, CLASS ARBITRATION, OR REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDING. ALL CLAIMS MUST BE BROUGHT IN AN INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY ONLY.

You may opt out of this arbitration provision by sending written notice to tatzliach.initiative@gmail.com within thirty (30) days of first accepting these Terms. If you do not opt out within that period, this arbitration provision is binding on you.

17. Governing Law and Venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. To the extent any dispute is not subject to arbitration under Section 16, the parties consent to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of the state and federal courts located in New York.

18. Termination

Tatzliach may suspend or terminate your access to the Platform at any time, with or without cause or notice, including for any actual or suspected violation of the Program Documents, safety concerns, or at Tatzliach's sole programmatic discretion.

You may discontinue use of the Platform at any time by notifying Tatzliach.

Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination — including Sections 8 through 17 — will survive any termination.

19. Modifications to These Terms

Tatzliach may revise these Terms at any time at its sole discretion. Material changes will be posted on the Platform with an updated “Last Updated” date. Continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

20. Electronic Communications Consent

You consent to receive communications from Tatzliach electronically, including via email and through the Platform, and agree that all agreements, notices, and disclosures provided electronically satisfy any legal requirement that such communications be in writing.

21. Miscellaneous

Severability: If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect, and the unenforceable provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable.

No Waiver: Tatzliach's failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of its right to do so later.

Force Majeure: Tatzliach is not liable for any failure or delay in performance resulting from causes beyond its reasonable control.

Entire Agreement: The Program Documents constitute the entire agreement between you and Tatzliach regarding the Platform and supersede all prior or contemporaneous agreements, whether written or oral.

Assignment: You may not assign or transfer these Terms without Tatzliach's prior written consent; Tatzliach may assign these Terms freely in connection with a reorganization, merger, or transfer of program operations.

Matched mentors — limited strictly to information needed to facilitate the mentorship relationship; mentors never receive a Member's direct contact information (see Section 7)

B. Service Providers

We may use third-party vendors (e.g., hosting, email, scheduling) to operate the Platform. These providers may access data only as needed to perform their services and are bound by confidentiality obligations.

C. Legal and Safety Requirements

We may disclose information where required by law, in response to valid legal process, or where we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect the safety of any person, including in cases of suspected abuse, threats of harm, or other emergencies.

Tatzliach Initiative — Member Agreement

Last Updated: October 2026 (v4)

1. Purpose of Participation

By joining Tatzliach Initiative (“the Program”), you agree to participate in a community-based mentorship and personal development platform designed to provide general guidance, accountability, and peer support within the Jewish community. The Program is intended solely for personal growth, goal-setting, and community engagement.

2. Non-Professional Relationship

No medical, mental health, legal, financial, or fiduciary relationship is created by your participation in the Program. Mentors and community members are not acting in any licensed or professional capacity, regardless of any outside profession or licensure they may individually hold. The Program does not provide therapy, counseling, or clinical services of any kind.

3. Eligibility and Representations

You represent and warrant that you are at least 18 years of age.

You represent that all information you provide, including gender information used for matching, is true, accurate, and complete.

You agree to be bound by the Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, Code of Conduct, Program Disclaimer, and this Member Agreement (collectively, the “Program Documents”).

4. Program Fit; Self-Disclosure; Emergency Contact

You confirm that you are not currently experiencing a mental health crisis requiring immediate professional intervention. If you are currently in crisis, please contact 911 or the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988) rather than, or in addition to, registering for the Program.

If you are currently receiving mental health treatment, counseling, or psychiatric care, you understand that the Program is not a substitute for that care, and you agree to continue any such care independently of your participation in the Program.

You agree to provide the name and contact information of at least one emergency contact, which Tatzliach may use solely to respond to a safety concern consistent with the Crisis & Emergency Response Protocol, and you agree to keep that information current.

You understand that if, at registration or at any point during your participation, Tatzliach reasonably believes the Program is not an appropriate fit for your needs, Tatzliach may decline to match you, pause your participation, or refer you to professional resources better suited to your situation — at Tatzliach's discretion and for your wellbeing.

5. Single-Gender Mentorship Structure

You acknowledge and agree that all one-on-one mentorship arranged through the Program is conducted strictly on a single-gender basis: male Members are matched only with male mentors, and female Members are matched only with female mentors.

You acknowledge that this policy reflects the communal and religious values of the Jewish community the Program serves, including traditional principles of modesty (tzniut) and the avoidance of secluded one-on-one contact between unrelated men and women (yichud).

You agree that you will not request, arrange, or knowingly participate in a cross-gender one-on-one mentorship match, and that Tatzliach will not honor any such request.

Tatzliach's one-on-one mentorship structure is limited to these two single-gender pairings and does not include additional matching categories. An individual for whom this structure is not a fit is welcome to contact Tatzliach for a respectful referral to other community resources or organizations.

6. Member Responsibilities

Participate respectfully and honestly

Respect the boundaries of mentors and other participants

Engage in the Program in good faith

Take responsibility for your own decisions and actions

7. Prohibited Conduct

You agree NOT to:

Harass, abuse, or exploit any other participant

Request professional or clinical services from a mentor

Misuse the Platform or its community structure

Request, arrange, or attempt to arrange a cross-gender one-on-one mentorship match

Share another participant's personal or contact information without consent

8. Screening Depth; No Guarantee of Match or Fit

You acknowledge and understand that Tatzliach's mentor screening is intentionally limited and appropriate to a volunteer, community-based program serving adults. It consists of: application review, an interview, and one character reference (applicants known personally to Tatzliach leadership may be approved without a reference). Tatzliach does not conduct background checks. A mentor's approval into the Program is not a professional evaluation, credential, or endorsement of that mentor.

You further understand that a match is not guaranteed, is subject to the availability of a mentor of the appropriate gender, and that even when a match is made, it may not be a good fit for you. Tatzliach does not promise any particular outcome or result, and you are encouraged to use your own judgment at all times.

9. Mutual Discretion; Duty to Notify

Either you or your mentor may pause, reduce, or end communication at any time, at your own discretion, for any reason or no reason, without explanation and without penalty. You are never required to continue an interaction that does not feel right to you.

If anything about your mentorship or your mentor concerns you — even something that seems small, or that you believe you can manage yourself — you agree to notify Tatzliach promptly. You may also simply stop communicating at your own discretion. Notifying Tatzliach helps us support you, protect other members, and improve the Program.

10. Boundaries; No Romantic or Sexual Conduct

Romantic, sexual, or otherwise exploitative relationships or conduct between a mentor and a Member, or between any participants in the Program, are strictly prohibited and are grounds for immediate termination from the Program. Such conduct may also be reported to appropriate authorities. See the Code of Conduct for additional detail.

11. Voluntary Participation

Participation in the Program is entirely voluntary. You may withdraw from the Program at any time.

12. Data and Program Use

Participation data and communications, including your emergency contact information, may be processed for program coordination, matching, safety, and improvement, in accordance with the Privacy Policy.

13. Assumption of Risk and Limitation of Liability

You acknowledge that interpersonal mentorship relationships involve inherent risk and uncertainty, and you voluntarily assume those risks. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Tatzliach is not liable for interactions or outcomes between participants, and Tatzliach's aggregate liability is limited as set forth in the Terms of Use, which is incorporated into this Agreement by reference.

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Tatzliach Initiative, its directors, officers, employees, volunteers, and mentors from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your participation in the Program, your interactions with other participants, or your violation of any Program Document.

15. No Personal Liability of Founders, Directors, Officers, and Volunteers

No founder, director, officer, employee, or volunteer of Tatzliach Initiative (including any mentor) shall have personal liability for any act or omission undertaken in good faith and within the scope of their role on behalf of Tatzliach, to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, including the federal Volunteer Protection Act of 1997 and any applicable New York volunteer protection or charitable immunity statute.

You agree that any claim you may have arising from your participation in the Program will be directed against Tatzliach Initiative as an organization, and not against any individual founder, director, officer, employee, or volunteer personally, except in cases of that individual's willful misconduct, gross negligence, or criminal conduct.

16. Termination

Tatzliach may suspend or terminate your participation in the Program at its sole discretion, with or without notice, including for violation of the single-gender matching policy or any other Program Document.

17. Dispute Resolution

Any dispute arising out of this Agreement or your participation in the Program is subject to the binding arbitration and class action waiver provisions set forth in the Terms of Use, which are incorporated into this Agreement by reference.

18. Acceptance

By participating in the Program, you confirm:

I am at least 18 years of age.

I have read and agree to this Member Agreement.

I have read and agree to the Terms of Use.

I have read and agree to the Privacy Policy.

I have read and agree to the Code of Conduct.

I have read and agree to the Program Disclaimer.

I have made the self-disclosures described in Section 4 truthfully and will provide a valid emergency contact.

I understand and agree to the single-gender mentorship matching policy described in Section 5.

I understand the screening depth described in Section 8, that a match is never guaranteed to be a good fit, and that either I or my mentor may end communication at any time at our own discretion (Section 9).

I agree to notify Tatzliach promptly of any concern about my mentorship, however small it may seem.

1. Purpose

This Code of Conduct sets the standards of behavior expected of every participant in the Tatzliach Initiative — Members, mentors, staff, and volunteers alike — to maintain a safe, respectful, and values-aligned community.

2. Core Principles

Respect

Accountability

Boundaries

Non-Exploitation

Communal and religious integrity

3. Single-Gender Mentorship Boundaries

All one-on-one mentorship must remain strictly within the single-gender pairing assigned by Tatzliach: male mentor with male Member, female mentor with female Member.

No exceptions to this pairing are permitted absent express written approval from Tatzliach administration, and informal substitution of a mentor or mentee outside one's assigned gender pairing is never permitted.

Meetings and communications between mentor and mentee should take place through appropriate channels and settings consistent with communal standards of modesty (tzniut), and should avoid secluded one-on-one contact inconsistent with those standards.

Tatzliach's one-on-one mentorship structure is limited to male-male and female-female pairings and does not include additional matching categories. An individual for whom this structure is not a fit is welcome to contact Tatzliach for a respectful referral to other community resources or organizations.

4. Prohibited Behavior

The following is strictly prohibited:

Harassment, discrimination, or abusive behavior of any kind

Romantic, sexual, or exploitative relationships or conduct within mentorship or between any participants

Attempts to provide or solicit professional services (medical, legal, psychological, financial)

Manipulation or coercion of other participants

Sharing false or misleading information

Requesting, arranging, or facilitating cross-gender one-on-one mentorship contact

Loans, gifts of significant value, or financial transactions between mentor and mentee

Contacting a participant's family members or employer without that participant's consent

Using the Platform or Program relationships to promote outside business interests without Tatzliach's authorization

5. Boundaries

Respect communication limits set by mentors or Members

Avoid dependency or over-reliance on any individual

Maintain an appropriate, non-personal relationship scope within mentorship

Avoid private or secluded one-on-one meetings inconsistent with communal modesty norms; public or appropriately supervised settings are encouraged

6. Safety and Mandatory Reporting

Participants must promptly report unsafe behavior, boundary violations, or misconduct concerns to Tatzliach.

Tatzliach may report information to law enforcement, protective services, or other authorities where required or appropriate, notwithstanding any other confidentiality provision in the Program Documents.

Tatzliach will not retaliate against any participant who makes a good-faith report under this Code.

7. Enforcement

Violation of this Code of Conduct may result in:

A warning

Suspension

Permanent removal from the Program

Referral to law enforcement or other authorities, where warranted

All enforcement decisions are made at the sole discretion of Tatzliach Initiative, with or without notice.

8. No Guarantee of Resolution

The Program does not guarantee resolution of disputes between participants.

9. Agreement

By using the Platform, you confirm:

I have read and agree to this Code of Conduct.

I agree to maintain respectful and appropriate interactions with all participants.

I understand and agree to the single-gender mentorship boundaries described in Section 3.

TATZLIACH INITIATIVE

Tatzliach Initiative — Non-Discrimination & Reasonable Accommodation Policy

Last Updated: June 21, 2026

About the Platform

Tatzliach Initiative is a community-based peer mentorship program serving the Jewish community. We are not a clinical disability service, therapeutic program, or specialized mental health organization. This Policy describes how Tatzliach approaches participation by individuals with disabilities or mental health conditions — with dignity, honesty, and a commitment to both inclusion and safety.

  1. Our Commitment: No Discrimination

Tatzliach Initiative does not discriminate against any person on the basis of disability, mental health history, physical condition, or any other characteristic protected under applicable federal, state, or local law, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and the New York State and New York City Human Rights Laws.

Having a disability — physical or mental health — does not automatically disqualify a person from participating in the Program. We welcome all individuals who can meaningfully engage in peer mentorship within the scope of what this Program is designed and equipped to provide.

  1. What We Are — and What We Are Not

Tatzliach is a peer mentorship and community support program run by trained community volunteers. It is not:

A mental health clinic, therapeutic program, or psychiatric service

A disability support service or specialized accommodation provider

A supervised clinical environment with licensed practitioners

A crisis intervention or emergency response service

This matters because it defines the honest limits of what we can appropriately and safely offer. Being clear about this is itself a form of respect — both for our members and for our volunteers.

  1. Participating with a Mental Health Condition

Many individuals managing mental health conditions — including anxiety, depression, ADHD, or others — participate in and benefit from peer mentorship programs. A mental health history or ongoing treatment does not disqualify a person from the Program.

The Program is not a substitute for professional mental health care. If a member is currently receiving mental health treatment, they are expected to continue that care independently of their Program participation.

Where a member's mental health needs require clinical intervention, crisis management, or a level of support that peer mentorship cannot safely provide, Tatzliach will respectfully refer that individual to more appropriate professional resources. This decision is made based on program scope and safety — not on the diagnosis or condition itself.

Tatzliach staff and volunteers are not authorized to assess, diagnose, or clinically evaluate any member's mental health. All safety concerns follow the Crisis & Emergency Response Protocol.

  1. Participating with a Physical Disability

Individuals with physical disabilities are welcome and encouraged to participate in the Program.

Tatzliach will make reasonable, good-faith accommodations within the Program's volunteer capacity. Examples include: adjusting communication format (e.g., text-based instead of phone-based mentorship), scheduling flexibility, or format adjustments for virtual participation.

Tatzliach is a volunteer-run community organization and is not obligated to provide specialized auxiliary aids, adaptive technology, personal care assistance, or accommodations that would fundamentally alter the nature of the Program or impose an undue administrative or financial burden.

If you have a physical disability and need an accommodation, please contact us at tatzliach.initiative@gmail.com. We will engage in a good-faith interactive process to determine what is possible.

  1. Voluntary Disclosure: How to Request Support or an Accommodation

You are never required to disclose a disability or mental health condition to participate in the Program.

If you have a support need or would like to request a reasonable accommodation, you may do so voluntarily:

At intake, through the “Support & Accommodation” field on the Member Intake Form (optional)

At any time during your participation by emailing tatzliach.initiative@gmail.com

Voluntary disclosure will only be used to try to support your participation. It will never be used as a reason to deny you participation unless the specific need disclosed is genuinely outside the program's safe scope, as described in Section 3 above.

  1. Program Fit Determination

Tatzliach reserves the right to determine, in good faith, that the Program is not an appropriate fit for a particular individual's needs at a given time.

Any such determination will be based solely on whether the Program can safely and appropriately serve the individual's needs within a peer mentorship model — not on the existence of a disability or condition.

Tatzliach will always provide a respectful explanation and, wherever possible, a referral to other community resources or organizations better suited to serve that individual's needs.

A person who is declined or deferred may reapply at a future time if their circumstances change.

  1. Gender-Based Matching and This Policy

The Program's single-gender mentorship matching policy applies equally to all members, including those with disabilities or mental health conditions. This policy is rooted in the religious and communal values of the Jewish community the Program serves and is not affected by disability status.

  1. Confidentiality of Disclosed Information

Any disability-related or support information you voluntarily disclose will be treated as confidential and accessed only by authorized staff on a need-to-know basis. It will not be shared with your mentor without your consent, except as necessary to facilitate a reasonable accommodation or respond to a safety concern, consistent with the Privacy Policy and Crisis & Emergency Response Protocol.

  1. Contact

For accommodation requests, questions about program fit, or concerns related to this Policy, contact: tatzliach.initiative@gmail.com, or by mail at Tatzliach Initiative, 2229 Homecrest Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11229

  1. Educational Purpose Only

All Events hosted by Tatzliach Initiative are educational and informational in nature. Attendance at or participation in any Event does not create a professional, therapeutic, clinical, medical, legal, or financial relationship between you and Tatzliach Initiative or any presenter.

  1. Presenter Independence

Guest presenters and speakers appear in an independent educational capacity. Their statements represent their own views and expertise, not those of Tatzliach Initiative. Presenters are not acting as agents, employees, or representatives of Tatzliach Initiative.

  1. No Substitute for Professional Advice

Content presented at Events is not a substitute for professional medical, mental health, legal, or financial advice. If you have specific personal needs in any of these areas, please consult a qualified professional.

  1. Recording, Publication & Media Release

By attending an Event, you acknowledge and agree that:

(a) The Event may be recorded, and the recording may be published or distributed by Tatzliach Initiative on its website, on YouTube, on social media, in email communications, and on any other platform or medium, now or in the future, worldwide and in perpetuity, at Tatzliach Initiative's sole discretion and without additional notice to you or compensation of any kind.

(b) If you choose to speak, ask a question, share your screen or video, or otherwise appear or be audible during the Event, your name (as displayed), image, voice, questions, and comments may appear in the recording and in any published or distributed versions of it.

(c) If you prefer not to appear in a recording, you may keep your camera off and participate via text chat, or contact us in advance regarding any concern. Keeping your camera off and communicating in writing is the only way to avoid appearing in the recording, and Tatzliach Initiative cannot guarantee exclusion from audio capture if you unmute and speak.

(d) This media release applies only to recordings of Tatzliach Initiative Events. It does not grant Tatzliach Initiative permission to use your image or voice in any commercial advertising or endorsement, or in any context unrelated to the Events and their educational mission.

  1. Conduct During Events

All attendees must conduct themselves in accordance with the Tatzliach Code of Conduct.

Disruptive, harassing, or inappropriate conduct will result in removal from the Event.

Attendees may not record, screenshot, or distribute Event content without Tatzliach's prior written consent.

  1. Contact Information & Communications

Registration information collected for Events is handled in accordance with the Tatzliach Privacy Policy. Attendee lists are not shared publicly, sold, or shared with other attendees or third parties for their own use.

Where you have consented at registration, Tatzliach Initiative may use the email address and phone number you provide to contact you about future events, programs, and organizational updates. You may withdraw this consent at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting us directly, and your contact details will be removed from future communications lists.

  1. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, TATZLIACH INITIATIVE AND ITS PRESENTERS ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY RELIANCE ON CONTENT PRESENTED AT EVENTS, OR FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING FROM ATTENDANCE OR PARTICIPATION.

  1. Acknowledgment

By registering for or attending a Tatzliach Event, I confirm:

□ I understand this Event is educational only and does not create a professional, therapeutic, medical, legal, or financial relationship.

□ I understand presenter views are their own and not those of Tatzliach Initiative.

□ I agree to conduct myself respectfully and in accordance with the Tatzliach Code of Conduct.

□ I acknowledge this Event may be recorded and that recordings may be published by Tatzliach Initiative, including on YouTube and other platforms, as described in Section 4.

□ I understand how my contact information may be used as described in Section 6, and that I can opt out at any time.

TATZLIACH INITIATIVE

No Direct Advice Policy

Last Updated: September 30, 2026

About the Platform

Tatzliach Initiative is a community-based, non-clinical mentorship platform. Mentors are volunteers who share life experience, encouragement, and accountability. They are not professionals, and no advisory relationship is created.

1. The Core Rule

No direct advice — in either direction.

  • Mentors do not give direct advice.
  • Members do not ask mentors for direct advice.

Mentorship at Tatzliach is experience-sharing, not decision-making. The mentor's role is to walk alongside the member — never to make decisions for them or tell them what to do.

2. What Mentors May Do

  • Share their own lived experience: how they got through a similar situation, what they tried, what helped, and what did not.
  • Share what resources they used in their own story (programs, books, community resources, professionals they saw).
  • Listen, encourage, and ask questions that help the member think for themselves.
  • Help the member set their own goals and stay accountable to them.
  • Refer the member to appropriate professionals, services, or crisis resources.

3. What Mentors May NOT Do

  • Give direct advice ("you should do X", "do it this way").
  • Make decisions for a member, or position themselves as the person who decides.
  • Provide medical, mental health, legal, financial, or any other licensed professional advice.
  • Diagnose, treat, or counsel — including "here's what worked for my anxiety" as a treatment recommendation.
  • Present their own choices as the correct path for the member.

4. What Members May Expect — and May Not Do

Members may expect a mentor to:

  • Listen without judgment and share relevant personal experience
  • Point to resources that helped the mentor in their own story
  • Encourage and hold them accountable to their own goals

Members may not:

  • Ask mentors for direct advice or ask them to make decisions for them
  • Request professional, medical, legal, financial, or clinical services from a mentor
  • Treat a mentor's experience as professional, clinical, or financial guidance

5. Training Requirement

All mentors are required to complete Tatzliach's training modules — including a dedicated No Direct Advice module — before being matched, with annual re-certification. Trainings on this topic are provided at no cost.

6. Why This Rule Exists

This rule keeps the program non-clinical and non-professional: it protects members from unlicensed guidance, protects mentors from liability, and keeps ownership of every decision where it belongs — with the member. Sharing experience empowers; handing down directives does not.

7. Enforcement

Violations of this policy — including repeated advice-giving or repeated requests for direct advice — may result in retraining, reassignment, suspension, or removal from the program at Tatzliach Initiative's sole discretion.

8. Contact

For questions about this policy: Email: tatzliach.initiative@gmail.com

ASSISTED APPLICATION POLICY

Third-Party Submission of an Application

Tatzliach Initiative — Effective: October 16, 2026

1. Assisted Submission

An application to the Tatzliach Initiative ("the Organization") may be completed by a family member, friend, social worker, or other trusted individual ("the Submitter") on behalf of another person ("the Applicant"), with the Applicant's knowledge and consent. The Submitter attests that the Applicant is aware the application is being submitted and wishes to be contacted by the Organization. The Submitter agrees not to disclose the Applicant's medical, psychological, or disability-related information in this application, and the Organization does not request such information.

2. Applicant Confirmation

No services, matching, or participation result from an assisted application until the Organization has contacted the Applicant directly and received the Applicant's own confirmation that (a) they consented to the submission and (b) they wish to participate. If the Applicant cannot be reached or does not confirm, the application is closed without prejudice.

3. Applicant Autonomy

The Applicant remains the sole decision-maker at every stage of the program, including whether to participate, whether to continue, and whom to speak with. The Submitter's role ends upon submission; the Submitter does not speak for the Applicant within the program unless the Applicant expressly requests it in writing, or, where the Applicant has a legally appointed representative (guardian, conservator, or holder of healthcare power of attorney), that representative's lawful authority is recognized.

4. Accuracy

The Organization relies on the accuracy of information provided. The Organization is not responsible for, and is not bound by, information submitted by a Submitter that the Applicant has not confirmed. Where information provided by the Submitter conflicts with the Applicant's own statements, the Applicant's statements govern.

5. No Guarantee of Services

Submission of an application — assisted or otherwise — does not guarantee acceptance into the program, the availability of a mentor, or any particular outcome. The Organization provides peer mentorship only; it is not a medical, psychological, psychiatric, crisis, or professional care service of any kind, and nothing in the program substitutes for professional treatment.

6. Accommodations

Applicants who need assistance of any kind to complete an application or participate in the program may request support at any time by contacting the Organization, and the Organization will make reasonable efforts to accommodate. No applicant is required to disclose the reason an accommodation is needed.

7. Privacy

The Organization collects no health or disability information through this process and does not share applicant information with any third party, including the Submitter, except as required by law or with the Applicant's written consent.

This policy is part of the program guidelines of the Tatzliach Initiative. For questions, contact us through tatzliach.com.

Tatzliach Initiative

Volunteer & Mentor Agreement and Release of Liability

Last Updated: October 2026 (v3)

About the Platform. Tatzliach Initiative ("Tatzliach," "we," "us," or "the Initiative") is a New York not-for-profit corporation, recognized as exempt from federal income tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Tatzliach operates a community-based mentorship and personal development platform serving the Jewish community. This Volunteer & Mentor Agreement and Release of Liability ("Agreement") governs your service as an uncompensated volunteer mentor ("Mentor," "you") and must be read together with the Terms of Use, Code of Conduct, and Crisis & Emergency Response Protocol, each incorporated by reference.

Mentors are the heart of Tatzliach. This Agreement exists to protect you, the people you mentor, and the Initiative, by making each person's role and responsibilities clear.

1. Volunteer Status; No Compensation; No Employment Relationship

You serve as a Mentor entirely as an uncompensated volunteer. You will receive no wages, salary, benefits, or other compensation of any kind for your service.

No employment, agency, partnership, joint venture, or independent contractor relationship of any kind is created between you and Tatzliach Initiative, for tax purposes or otherwise.

Your service is voluntary and at-will. You may stop volunteering at any time, and Tatzliach may end your participation as a Mentor at any time, in each case with or without cause or notice.

2. Scope of Your Role as Mentor

Your role is limited strictly to peer mentorship: encouragement, general guidance, accountability, and connecting mentees to community resources, consistent with Tatzliach's mission.

You are NOT authorized to, and agree that you will not, provide medical, mental health, legal, or financial advice or services to any mentee, regardless of any outside profession, license, or credential you personally hold.

You agree to operate strictly within the single-gender mentorship pairing assigned to you by Tatzliach and will not engage in, arrange, or accept a cross-gender one-on-one mentorship match under any circumstance.

3. Mandatory Crisis Referral Protocol

PLEASE READ THIS SECTION CAREFULLY.

You acknowledge that you are not trained, equipped, or authorized to assess, manage, treat, or intervene in any mental health crisis, including suicidal ideation, self-harm, abuse, or threats of violence toward any person.

If you become aware of any indication that a mentee or any other individual may be in danger of harming themselves or someone else, you agree to follow the Crisis & Emergency Response Protocol immediately: direct the individual to call 911 or the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988), and notify Tatzliach's designated safety contact as soon as possible afterward.

You agree that you will NOT attempt to personally manage, resolve, counsel through, or take sole responsibility for a crisis situation. When in doubt, you agree to always refer immediately rather than attempt to personally assess severity.

Your compliance with this Protocol is a mandatory condition of your continued service as a Mentor.

4. Screening

You agree to cooperate with Tatzliach's mentor screening process, which currently consists of application review, an interview, and one character reference, and with any other reasonable screening that Tatzliach requires of Mentors from time to time, and you authorize Tatzliach to conduct such screening. Tatzliach does not require background checks for Mentors under its current screening standards (see the Mentor Screening & Vetting Standards), which apply to a program serving adults 18 and older.

5. Match Fit; Mutual Discretion; Duty to Notify

Members are also screened through an intentionally limited process (application review and our intake process), appropriate to a volunteer, community-based program serving adults. Acceptance into the Program is not a professional evaluation, credential, or endorsement of any member, and Tatzliach does not guarantee that any mentee will be a good fit for you.

Either you or your mentee may pause, reduce, or end communication at any time, at your own discretion, for any reason or no reason, without explanation and without penalty. You are never required to continue an interaction that does not feel right to you.

If anything about a mentee, a match, or an interaction concerns you — even something that seems small — you agree to notify Tatzliach promptly rather than attempt to manage it alone. You may also pause or end the interaction at your own discretion. Notifying Tatzliach helps us support you, protect other members, and improve the Program.

6. Confidentiality

You agree to keep information shared by a mentee confidential and not to disclose it to third parties, except: (a) as necessary to comply with the Crisis & Emergency Response Protocol; (b) as required by law; or (c) as necessary to report a concern to Tatzliach staff.

7. Assumption of Risk and Release of Liability

You understand that volunteering as a Mentor involves inherent risks, including interpersonal, emotional, reputational, and physical risks arising from contact with mentees and other participants. You voluntarily and knowingly assume all such risks.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, you release and discharge Tatzliach Initiative, its founders, directors, officers, employees, and other volunteers from any and all claims, liabilities, or damages arising out of or related to your volunteer service, except to the extent caused by Tatzliach's own gross negligence or willful misconduct.

8. Indemnification by Mentor

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Tatzliach Initiative, its founders, directors, officers, employees, and other volunteers from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of your own willful misconduct, gross negligence, or violation of this Agreement, the Code of Conduct, the single-gender mentorship policy, or the Crisis & Emergency Response Protocol.

9. No Personal Liability of Tatzliach Founders, Directors, and Officers

Consistent with the Terms of Use, no founder, director, or officer of Tatzliach shall have personal liability to you for any act or omission undertaken in good faith and within the scope of their role, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

10. Acknowledgment

By signing below (or by submitting the electronic acknowledgment in your application), you confirm that you have read and agree to this Agreement, the Code of Conduct, the Terms of Use, and the Crisis & Emergency Response Protocol, that you understand and agree to follow the Mandatory Crisis Referral Protocol in Section 3 at all times, and that you understand the screening depth, mutual discretion, and duty to notify described in Sections 4 and 5.

Liability Waiver & Hold-Harmless Agreement

Effective: October 5, 2026

This Liability Waiver and Hold-Harmless Agreement (this "Agreement") applies to every applicant, member, mentee, mentor, volunteer, participant, visitor, and user of any program, service, event, webinar, communication, or interaction offered by, through, or in connection with Tatzliach Initiative (the "Organization"), including any mentor, mentee, or volunteer to whom you may be paired, introduced, or matched (collectively, with the Organization, the "Released Parties" as described in Section 5).

PLEASE READ THIS AGREEMENT CAREFULLY. IT AFFECTS YOUR LEGAL RIGHTS. BY CHECKING THE ACKNOWLEDGMENT BOX ON ANY APPLICATION OR INTAKE FORM, YOU AGREE TO BE BOUND BY ALL OF ITS TERMS.

1. Application and Acceptance

  • Submission of an application does not guarantee acceptance into any program.
  • The Organization may approve, reject, pause, limit, or terminate any application, participation, or match at its sole discretion, with or without reason.
  • Approval, matching, or continued participation is a privilege, not a right, and may be modified or ended at any time.

2. No Professional Advice — Experience Sharing Only

  • The Organization and its mentors are not medical, psychological, psychiatric, therapeutic, legal, tax, financial, or any other kind of licensed or professional service provider, and nothing offered through the Organization constitutes professional advice or treatment of any kind.
  • All content, conversations, communications, resources, and interactions are personal experience sharing and general information only. Mentors share only their own life experience and the resources that helped them.
  • No guarantee of outcome is made or implied. Programs, matches, resources, and information are provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied.

3. Personal Responsibility — Members and Mentees

  • You are never required to listen to, follow, agree with, or act on any idea, recommendation, suggestion, opinion, resource, or information shared by your mentor, the Organization, or anyone involved.
  • Every decision you make remains your own, made of your own free will, at your own discretion, and entirely at your own risk.
  • You acknowledge that your own qualified professional providers (physician, therapist, attorney, accountant, or other licensed professional) are the appropriate source of professional advice, and you agree to consult them for any such need.

4. Volunteer Nature and Assumption of Risk — Mentors and Volunteers

  • Mentors and volunteers serve freely and from the heart, with no compensation, and are not employees, agents, partners, or joint-venturers of the Organization.
  • Serving as a mentor or volunteer is entirely voluntary and undertaken at your own risk.
  • You are solely responsible for maintaining appropriate boundaries, following all Organization policies and protocols, and directing any safety or crisis concern to emergency services (911 or 988) and to the Organization immediately.

5. General Release, Waiver, and Hold-Harmless

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, you — for yourself and on behalf of your heirs, executors, administrators, assigns, and personal representatives — hereby fully and forever release, waive, discharge, and hold harmless Tatzliach Initiative and each of its directors, officers, coordinators, staff members, mentors, volunteers, members, donors, supporters, agents, representatives, successors, and assigns (collectively, the "Released Parties") from any and all claims, demands, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, expenses, actions, or causes of action — whether known or unknown, anticipated or unanticipated, at law or in equity — arising out of or relating to:

  • (a) your application to, participation in, or termination from any program, service, event, or match;
  • (b) any communication, interaction, meeting, or contact with the Organization, any mentor, mentee, member, or volunteer, whether in person, by phone, by video, in writing, or otherwise;
  • (c) any information, resource, idea, recommendation, or content provided, shared, or relied upon;
  • (d) any decision, action, or inaction made or taken by you or any other participant; and
  • (e) any other matter connected in any way with the Organization or its programs.

This release applies to the Organization and to every individual involved, including the specific mentor or mentee you are paired with, and is given knowingly and voluntarily.

6. Covenant Not to Sue

You agree that you will never sue, pursue legal action against, seek recovery from, or assist any other person in bringing a claim against the Organization or any Released Party for anything arising from or relating to your participation or reliance on anything shared, in any forum or proceeding.

7. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Organization and the Released Parties from and against any and all third-party claims, liabilities, damages, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or relating to your conduct, your breach of this Agreement, or your breach of any Organization policy or protocol.

8. Suspension and Termination

The Organization may suspend or terminate any membership, match, or volunteer role at any time, with or without reason, including for conduct issues, safety concerns, or protocol violations. Nothing in this Agreement obligates the Organization to continue any relationship, match, or service.

9. Acknowledgment and Electronic Signature

You acknowledge that checking the acknowledgment box on an application or intake form constitutes your electronic signature, that you have read and fully understand this Agreement, that you accept it freely and without inducement, and that a copy of this Agreement is available at all times on the Organization's legal page.

10. Severability and Governing Law

If any provision of this Agreement is held unenforceable, it shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary or severed, and the remainder shall continue in full force. This Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

This Agreement is part of the Organization's overall legal framework, including the Terms of Use, Member Agreement, Volunteer & Mentor Agreement, No Direct Advice Policy, and Program Disclaimer, which remain in full force and effect.

If you are in crisis, please call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or call 911. Tatzliach is not a crisis service.
